The latest operating system market share numbers from NetMarketShare show little change from the previous month. In October, Windows 10 picked up only a handful of new users, growing its marketing share from 6.63 percent to 7.94 percent. And very few of those new users transitioned from Windows 8 or 8.1, which only saw market share decline by .10 percent.

Windows 7 remains the most popular operating system by a wide margin, accounting for 55.71 percent of the market. And despite all the warnings about lack of support and security vulnerabilities, 11.6 percent of users still run the aging Windows XP. In other words, there are still more users running Windows XP than Windows 10.
