VMware Releases Middleware for Java Developers

VMware has announced the release of vFabric 5, a new suite of Spring-based middleware for Java developers. The offering will allow the company to compete with Microsoft's similar set of tools for the Azure cloud. vFabric includes seven distinct components:

vFabric tc Server with Elastic Memory for Java, an enterprise version of the Apache Tomcat server
vFabric GemFire, a server memory-caching system
vFabric SQLFire, which uses an SQL interface for retrieving data from RAM
RabbitMQ, an open source message queuing system
Spring Insight, an open source project used to optimize Java code
vFabric Hyperic, which reports on virtual machine activity
vFabric Web Server, a version of the Apache Web Server
