VMware Releases Middleware for Java Developers
VMware has announced the release of vFabric 5, a new suite of Spring-based middleware for Java developers. The offering will allow the company to compete with Microsoft's similar set of tools for the Azure cloud. vFabric includes seven distinct components:
- vFabric tc Server with Elastic Memory for Java, an enterprise version of the Apache Tomcat server
- vFabric GemFire, a server memory-caching system
- vFabric SQLFire, which uses an SQL interface for retrieving data from RAM
- RabbitMQ, an open source message queuing system
- Spring Insight, an open source project used to optimize Java code
- vFabric Hyperic, which reports on virtual machine activity
- vFabric Web Server, a version of the Apache Web Server
