During its annual VMworld conference, VMware made several announcements related to cloud computing and containers. First, it said the VMware Cloud services running on AWS have reached general availability. Announced last October, the cloud services have had a lengthy beta testing period. The services are said to simplify the development of hybrid cloud computing environments.

Second, the company is partnering with Pivotal and Google on a Kubernetes-based Pivotal Container Service (PKS). The new service makes it easier to deploy containers on premise, but it is also compatible with Google Container Engine, enabling hybrid deployments. It also integrates with VMware NSX for easier network and security management.
