Microsoft has released Python Tools for Visual Studio (PTVS), a set of free, open-source tools for Python developers. Those tools include a Python editor, debugging and profiling capabilities, and support for parallel computing. In addition to the Python programming language, the add-on also supports CPython, IronPython, Jython and PyPy.

Developers can download the release from the CodePlex site. To use it, they’ll need either the free Visual Studio Integrated Shell or one of the paid versions of the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE.
