Verizon Ranks Apps by Resource Consumption

Verizon no longer has its own app store; instead, it has begun rating and reviewing apps. While many vendors put out lists of the most popular or most highly recommended apps, Verizon has also put together a list of top apps based on their security, battery consumption and data usage. It also has a “naughty” list of the apps most likely to drain your battery or eat through your data plan.

Some very popular apps, including Facebook, eBay, Fruit Ninja Free and Draw Something all received negative ratings for energy and data use. Not surprisingly, some Verizon-made apps scored very well.
