Too Many Features Spoil the Mobile App
A common mobile development mistake is feature bloat. Although many mobile developers begin by creating a good, focused app, they often add too many extraneous features over time, writes James Kendrick.
"Apps I have used for a long time are gradually getting buggier and bulkier, as one feature after another are added by the developers," he notes. "The extra features don't usually make the app better at performing the primary function, instead they add new capability just in case the user might find it beneficial."
Developers often add new functions in an attempt to stand out from the crowd. But the best strategy for standing out in a crowded app store may actually be to focus on doing just one thing and doing it well.
