On July 10, the iOS App Store officially turns five years old. In honor of the event, a number of well-known apps are available for free. They include Over, Traktor DJ (iPhone / iPad), Day One, Over, How to Cook Everything, and Barefoot World Atlas and games like Infinity Blade II, Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP, Where’s My Water?, Badland and Tiny Wings.

Many developers were quick to share the news, some obviously hoping that the free apps would drive more traffic to the app store, resulting in more downloads for other apps as well as those that were free.

Along with the free apps, Apple also released a poster detailing the significant events in the App Store’s five years of existence. Several commentators noticed that Apple conveniently forgot to include all of the App Store’ scandals on the timeline.
