Survey Says Companies Embracing Open Source for Competitive Advantage
Gartner released a survey this week that shows companies are adopting open source to gain a competitive advantage.
Gartner queried 547 companies in 11 countries between July and August 2010.
Fahmida Rashid of eWeek's LinuxDevices.com reported, "Gaining a competitive advantage is a 'significant reason' for selecting an open source product, said Laurie Wurster, research director at Gartner. More organizations consider open source as 'having much greater value than simply getting something for free.'"
