Survey: Majority of Mobile Devs Use Location-Based Services
The latest developer survey from Evans Data Corp shows that location-based services are a huge trend in mobile development. Of 400 mobile developers surveyed, 54 percent said they have used mapping, local search or similar services.
However, the survey found much less interest in location-based advertising. "Naturally location based services are in demand and search and mapping are understandably the top capability developers incorporate, but we were surprised to see a lot of weakness in both geo fencing and advertising -- areas where there has been a lot of media interest but little from developers," said Janel Garvin, CEO of Evans Data Corp.
