A new survey conducted by Baird Equity Research finds that developers are abandoning RIM’s BlackBerry platform in droves. According to the report, “31 percent of sampled BlackBerry 10 developers said that they have shifted some or all of their work away from BB10, compared with 34 percent in Q1. This is the second quarter in which we have seen fewer responders indicating that they will shift some of their work away from BlackBerry. We believe that many developers who planned to jump ship have already made the move, leaving a BlackBerry developer base that is smaller but increasingly loyal.”

When asked to describe the outlook for the platform, developers gave RIM’s platform the lowest ratings ever. BlackBerry 10 received a 3.8 out of 10, and they gave BlackBerry 7 a 2.8 out of 10. That’s just slightly above the 2.1 rating for webOS, a platform that HP has virtually abandoned. By comparison, the developers gave iOS a 9.3.
