Study: Subscriptions Becoming Very Common for Mobile Apps

Mobile platform vendor ROKO Labs has published a new report on the competition in the mobile development industry. Key findings from the study include the following:

  • The most common ways to make money from apps are subscriptions (27 percent), general ads (20 percent) and transaction fees (20 percent).
  • The most popular states for mobile development are California (37 percent), New York (11 percent) and Massachusetts (5 percent).
  • The most popular app categories are games (22.7 percent), business (10.2 percent) and lifestyle (9.4 percent).
  • On average, app names are nine characters long.
