Strategy Analytics has released the results of its Developer Survey, which asked mobile development firms which platforms they are currently writing for and which they plan to support in the future. Unsurprisingly, Android took the top spot with 84 percent of developers supporting it, followed by iOS with 68 percent. HTML5 was third with 33 percent currently supporting it and 43 percent planning to do so next year.

However, the biggest growth will likely be seen in platforms that aren’t currently as popular. Only 16 percent of developers currently support Windows Phone, but based on the poll results, that will double next year to 32 percent. And while only 3 percent of developers are currently writing Firefox OS apps, that could more than triple to 10 percent next year.
