Students Will Be Allowed to Use Federal Loans for Coding Bootcamps

The U.S. Department of Education recently announced a new program called EQUIP that will allow students to use federal loans to help pay for coding bootcamps. The program will speed up the process of approving organizations to accept student loans; in the past that process had been notoriously slow and difficult.

It is estimated that there are about 70 coding bootcamps in the country, and they will graduate around 16,000 students this year. They are less expensive than regular four-year colleges and universities, and students graduate much more quickly. The government plans to audit coding schools accepted into the program in order to insure that they are living up to their advertised claims about the education they provide.
