Google recently made announcements related to two different events for students. The first, Google Code-In, is a contest for 13- to 17-year-olds. It’s a seven-week competition that asks students to complete various tasks for open source software projects. On November 1, Google will announce which open source projects will be involved this year, and signups begin November 18.

The second event, Google Summer of Code, is an internship program that matches college students with various open source projects. Google pays $5,500 to students who fulfill the program requirements. Students can start applying for the program in March.
