The Telegraph is reporting that Google is planning to release its own smartphone, putting it into direct competition with Samsung and Apple. Citing “sources familiar with the discussions,” the report says that Google is currently in talks with mobile operators and that Google plans to release the device by the end of next year.
The move would give Google more control over the way that the Android operating system and apps run on the devices.
Google declined to comment on the story.
