Report: Google Faces €3 Billion Fine
Citing "sources close to the situation," The Telegraph is reporting that European officials plan to levy a fine of approximately €3 against Google for abuse of its monopolistic position in the search market. It would be the biggest antitrust fine The European Commission has ever levied. (Currently, the largest fine was €1 billion paid by Intel.) The announcement could come as early as next month.
The European Commission is also looking into other antitrust charges related to Google's Android operating system, and the company could face additional fines in that case.
