As part of the launch of its Confluence 4.3 team collaboration software, Atlassian has released some new statistics about tasks that waste developers’ time. According to the company, the average developer receives more than 300 emails per week and checks email more than three times an hour. After dealing with an email, it takes workers 16 minutes to refocus on the task at hand. In addition, the company reported that “On average, an employee attends 62 meetings each month and considers half of them as time wasted.”

Atlassian’s Confluence 4.3 aims to reduce wasted time by consolidating important messages in one place, so that workers spend less time checking multiple apps. In addition, the software aims to reduce unnecessary meetings by making it easier to reach decisions through online collaboration.
