Report: Android Apps More Popular Than iOS Apps
According to data compiled by mobile-testing vendor uTest, Android apps are now receiving better user reviews than iOS apps. In addition, Android users are reviewing apps more often. This is a big change from last year, when exactly the opposite was true.
The report could indicate that mobile development firms are doing a better job creating Android apps than iOS apps, but there are also several other reasons that could account for the discrepancy. First, iOS allows anonymous reviews, but over the past year, Android has begun requiring people to use their real names on reviews, which generally encourages more politeness. Second, the quality of Android hardware has improved, which also makes the apps look better. Finally, many iPhone apps haven't yet been optimized for iOS 7, which may be having a negative impact on reviews.
