Harbor Research and Progress Software have released the results of a new survey of Internet of Things (IoT) developers. The report finds that 65 percent of production IoT apps are currently generating revenue, and 80 percent of developers expect to be generating revenue by 2018.
“IoT is a very large space, and the revenue varies with the industry,” Eduardo Pelegri-Llopart, a Progress Software vice president, said. “As our survey indicates, the largest opportunities today are around wearables, fitness and smart homes.”
When asked which operating system was best for IoT, 29 percent of developers said Android, 24 percent Windows, 21 percent Linux and 16 percent iOS.
