Python Rises, C Falls in Popularity Rankings
In the latest update to the Tiobe Index of programming language popularity, Python rose to fourth place, and on the competing PyPL Popularity of Programming Language index, Python is in second place. "Python has been [in] second place on PyPL for a year now and is still going strong," index author Pierre Carbonelle said. "Not a surprise with the popularity of AI; [Python] has popular AI libraries like Keras, Theano."
Meanwhile, C is continuing its slow fall. On the Tiobe index, it remains in second place, but has dropped 8 percentage points over the past year. On PyPL, it is seventh.
