Oracle's $1.3 Billion Court Victory Against SAP Also a Win for Open Source
Network World's Kim Weins wrote today that Oracle's $1.3 billion court victory against SAP provides yet another reason companies should consider open source software solutions.
"Unlike proprietary software," Weins said, "support for open source software is a competitive market. For almost any major open source project, there are multiple vendors that companies can choose for support."
So rather than being locked into expensive support contracts with companies like Oracle, with open source, "customers are in the driver's seat," Weins said.
