Red Hat’s JBoss Enterprise Data Grid 6 is based on Red Hat’s experimental Infinispan data grid technology. It was created to fill a niche area of the large-scale distributed Java caches used to scale applications over multiple servers by pooling memory across more then one system. This approach greatly increases the applications’ speed and response times.
This is where Infinispan surpasses other Java caching technologies as it was designed specifically for scalable, multi-terabyte architecture scaling over hundredes or even thousands of servers.
