While end users were anxiously awaiting Apple’s unveiling of the iPhone 5, developers were equally interested in the debut of the iOS 6 operating system. The new OS offers a couple of key changes for developers. First, Apple has changed its user ID system. It replaced the UDID, which spawned many privacy-related concerns, with the IFA. The IFA will still allow developers to follow users across apps, but end users will be able to reset their IFA if they need to.

Second, many Facebook capabilities have been integrated directly into iOS. Game Center, Siri, the camera and many other iPhone 5 features now integrate directly with the social network. For developers, the big news on the Facebook front is the addition of Like buttons in the App Store. This may make it easier for developers to build word-of-mouth and draw more users to their apps.
