MPEG LA Seeks Patents for WebM/VP8
The patent pool cartel, MPEG LA, is hunting for patents it can use against Google's open source WebM/VP8 video codec.
The H's DJ Walker-Morgan has the story.
"The move by MPEG LA is the first step in possibly creating a patent pool which would be able to demand royalties for the use of WebM/VP8," Walker-Morgan reported.
The patent cartel is requesting any parties who believe they have essential patents for the WebM/VP8 codec to contact them by March 18.
