Mobile App Downloads Increased 15% in Q1

According to App Annie, first quarter app downloads were up 15 percent year-over-year, reaching nearly 25 billion. Consumers spent $15 billion on apps during the period and total revenue for mobile development pros was even higher thanks to ad sales.

Google Play had 135 percent more downloads than Apple’s App Store, but the App Store generated 100 percent more revenue than Google Play. The report also noted that if you consider third-party app stores, the entire Android market will likely generate more revenue than iOS this year.
