At the Future Decoded conference in London, Microsoft announced that it is adding several new features to its Project Oxford developer tools for artificial intelligence. For example, it can now detect emotions, such as anger, happiness, fear, surprise, disgust, sadness or contempt, in photos. In addition, the service is getting several new video tools that can detect motion, stabilize camera movement and track faces.

Another new tool, Custom Recognition Intelligent Services (CRIS) offers advanced voice recognition. In the future, this tool is expected to allow developers to write applications with voice authentication capabilities.

The processing for these services is handled through Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service, so apps must be connected to the Internet in order to use them. However, developers can try all of the new features for free.
