Over the past few days, Microsoft has begun open sourcing some code related to its Bing search engine. More specifically, it has released some parts of the BitFunnel full-text search system. One of those newly released projects is a just-in-time compiler called NativeJIT.
InfoWorld’s Serdar Yegulalp says NativeJIT is the “most interesting” of the BitFunnel projects and notes that it “takes expressions that use C data structures and transforms them into highly optimized assembly code.” While NativeJIT is still in the early stages of development, it shows promise.
