One of the features of Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 release of most interest to developers is the planned Windows App Store. In a new blog post, Microsoft has detailed the app submission process in surprising detail. Although Microsoft will approve all apps before inclusion in the store, as Apple does, it also offers a great deal of transparency into the process, which makes it a little like Google’s approach to the Android Market.

According to the blog, much of the app submission process will be automated, but human beings will also be involved. Microsoft says it will also release a Windows App Certification Kit, which will give developers insight into whether their apps are likely to receive approval. In addition, Microsoft is adding to Visual Studio some new features related to the App Store; those features include the capability to reserve an app name ahead of time.
