Mark Zuckerberg Shows Off His Jarvis AI
At the beginning of 2016, Mark Zuckerberg announced that he would be building an artificial intelligence (AI) system for his home. Every year, the Facebook CEO takes on a challenge, and this particular challenge was meant to keep him in touch with his company's developers and help him better understand AI, which is an important area of research for the firm. While the project isn't yet finished, Zuckerberg gave Fast Company a look at how it works.
The AI, which Zuckerberg named "Jarvis" after the AI in "Iron Man," alerts the Zuckerbergs when visitors arrive and identifies those visitors. It also allows them to control the lights, temperature and music in their home by voice, and it is particularly good at learning his and his wife's personal tastes in music. However, Zuckerberg admitted that the AI has occasionally made mistakes that irritate his wife – like playing loud music in the baby's room while she is napping.
