In the latest update to the Tiobe index of programming language popularity, Java and C remain the two most popular languages, but their ratings have dropped to their lowest point ever. Java had a 12.961 percent rating, six percentage points lower than a year ago, and C got a 6.477 percent rating, nearly five points lower than last year.
Another noteworthy change on the list was that Crystal, a Ruby variant, jumped from 60th to 32nd between July and August.
