According to a new survey from Appcelerator and IDC, the iPhone still enjoys the most developer popularity, with 91 percent of mobile development pros “very interested” in making apps for Apple’s smartphone. The iPad comes in second with 88 percent very interested, followed by Android smartphones (83 percent), Android tablets (68 percent), HTML5 mobile Web (66 percent) and Windows Phone 7 (38 percent).

Windows Phone 7 was the big gainer in the survey, climbing 8 points from the previous report. Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet also saw a surge in interest, with 49 percent of developers “very interested.”

On the other hand, RIM’s BlackBerry platform continued its decline, with the number of developers interested in creating apps for RIM smartphones and tablets sliding 7 points and 6 points, respectively.
