Increasing Popularity for Chrome Web Store
In October, Google rolled out a re-design for its Chrome Web store, and it had a big impact on the site's popularity. Before the re-design the store could only display a limited number of apps per category, which kept the overall number of apps in the store to 6,000. Google has now done away with that limit, boosting the total apps available to more than 18,000. As a result, downloads per day have also risen dramatically, from 525,000 per day before the re-design to $1.2 million per day after. (This increase could also be due to a new "syncing" feature.)
Traffic on the site has also taken a big jump up. The month before the redesign, the Chrome Web store attracted 33 million app users. The month after, it reached 55 million users -- good news for developers with Web apps on the site.
