Is 10 weeks enough time to turn a bunch of women with little or no coding experience into "awesome programmers"? San Francisco's Hackbright Academy thinks so. It just graduated its first class of developers, all of them women, and most of them are getting job interviews. The school has received 80 applications for its next 10-week session, which costs around $6,000, but it can still only accept 12.

New graduate Whitaker Cohen is optimistic about her chances of landing a job. “Companies come in and they’re like, ‘We need more women engineers, you guys are such an rare commodity in this world.’ So I mean, we’ll see if that’s true.”
