A year after first announcing its Dart programming language, Google has officially released a software development kit (SDK) for the intended JavaScript replacement. Google’s Lars Bak announced, “A year ago we released a technology preview of Dart, a project that includes a modern language, libraries, and tools for building complex Web applications. Today, after plowing through thousands of bug reports and feature requests from the Web community, a new, more stable and comprehensive version of Dart is now available and ready to use.”

Today’s release improves or adds a number of features in Dart, such as a faster virtual machine, a Dart-to-JavaScript translator, an HTML library that works transparently on browsers, a JavaScript interoperability library, an editor, a server-side IO library, a new package manager, and Dartium, a version of Chromium with Dart support. The SDK is available for download from DartLang.org.
