A new report from App Annie confirms that Google Play serves the most downloads while Apple’s App Store generates the most revenue—and the gap between the two is widening on both fronts. For 2015, Google Play had 100 percent more downloads than the App Store, up from 60 percent in 2014. And the App Store generated 75 percent more revenue than Google Play during 2015, up from 70 percent the year before.

Google Play saw download growth from Brazil, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and Mexico; the App Store saw revenue growth in China, the U.S. and Japan. Games continue to be the biggest revenue generators for both platforms, contributing 90 percent of Google Play revenue and 75 percent of iOS App Store revenue.
