Google Confirms Purchase of Agawi
Google has confirmed that it secretly purchased a startup called Agawi last year. The Android maker and search giant reportedly told TechCrunch, "The Agawi team has joined Google. We aren’t sharing other details."
Before the acquisition, Agawi made technology that streamed mobile apps over the Web without requiring users to download anything. This technology is particularly useful for advertisers who want their ads to function like games; mobile development firms, for example, could use it to offer people a chance to try out a game before they install it.
Industry observers are speculating that Google could use Agawi technology to enhance the way app search works. And of course, it could also allow Google to provide highly interactive ad units to advertisers.
