Making good on a previous promise, Google has made GPUs available in three of its cloud computing data centers. The us-east1, asia-east1 and europe-west1 now offer the option of attaching up to eight Nvidia Tesla K80 GPUs to any custom Compute Engine machine. However, the GPUs don’t come cheap—costs range from $0.70 to $0.77 per hour per GPU.

GPUs are particularly useful for machine learning applications, and Google is integrating the new GPU service with its Cloud Machine Learning service, as well as its database and storage platforms.
