Google’s AlphaGo artificial intelligence has been racking up a number of wins against human players of the board game Go, and now it has beaten the world’s best Go player in a live match. AlphaGo, created by Google-owned DeepMind, won the first round in a best-of-three match again China’s Ke Jie by just half a point.

The AI had previously beaten the 19-year-old Go expert in online games. This time Ke Jie tried to use some of AlphaGo’s moves against it.

The pair will face off again Thursday and on Saturday. On Friday, AlphaGo will play some additional exhibition matches.
