GitHub co-founder and former CEO Tom Preston-Werner has announced his resignation from the company. Last March, prominent female developer Julie Ann Horvath made allegations about sexism at GitHub that led to an investigation of Preston-Werner. According to new CEO Chris Wanstrath, “the investigation found no evidence to support the claims against Tom and his wife of sexual or gender-based harassment or retaliation or of a sexist or hostile work environment. However, while there may have been no legal wrongdoing, the investigator did find evidence of mistakes and errors of judgment. In light of these findings, Tom has submitted his resignation, which the company has accepted.”
Wanstrath added that the company is taking additional steps to deal with employee concerns about sexism and related issues.
Preston-Werner says he plans to work on an “immersive computing” (a.k.a. virtual reality) project next.
