Git has officially released version 2.8 of its open source version control software. The update includes a number of bug fixes, as well as new features designed to improve security and speed development. According to code hosting site GitHub, key features in the release include the following:
- Parallel fetches of submodules
- Ability for users to have different email addresses for different open source Git projects
- Better synchronization between OS X/Linux and Windows versions
- Patching for vulnerability CVE-2016-2324
