Free Telephony for the Free World by GNU
GNU Free Call is a new project that hopes to create a totally free, peer-to-peer, meshing telephony network for the world.
It will sort of work like Skype, but it will be free and decentralized.
By creating a "self organizing meshed calling network," GNU said, "we further eliminate potential service control points such as through explicit routing peers even if networks are isolated in civil emergencies."
This could become a powerful and free telephony network that can't be easily taken out by a dictator, earthquake or tsunami.
