Facebook has announced that it will use some of the proceeds from the F8 developer conference to send women and minorities underrepresented in the technology industry to Dev Bootcamp. The social network will fund 20 scholarships to the 19-week, $595 program and provide a total donation of $250,000.

“Facebook’s generous donation makes a real impact on Dev Bootcamp’s goal to achieve proportional representation of the U.S. population with our student base of women and minorities,” Dev Bootcamp VP of business development and corporate strategy Tarlin Ray said.

Dev Bootcamp teaches students Web development skills, including Ruby, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, SQL, HTML, CSS, pair programming, agile software development and test-driven development. More than 1,900 students have gone through the program.
