Cloud9 IDE has announced that it has raised $5.5 million from Accel Partners and Atlassian Software. The startup, which launched earlier this year, offers a development as a service (DaaS) platform that primarily caters to Javascript developers, although it also supports HTML5, Python, Ruby and PHP.

The tool allows geographically dispersed developers to work together on mobile and Web development projects. Cloud9 offers a cloud-based IDE with syntax support, code analysis, test and debugging capabilities, and GitHub, Bitbucket and Joyent integration. More than 30,000 developers worldwide currently use the service.
