CISQ to Create Technical Debt Measure

Technical debt, the cost of low-quality code that needs to be re-factored, is a constant issue for enterprise application development teams. IT managers often wish they had a way to measure their technical debt in order to better understand how much it would cost to fix the code in question.

Now the Consortium for IT Software Quality (CISQ) has announced that it is working on creating new standards for measuring levels of technical debt. The organization is currently surveying developers in order to determine the average length of time required to remedy 86 common code defects.

The organization hopes to compile the responses by January and submit a proposal for a new standard in February.
