During its re:Invent conference, Amazon Web Services (AWS) unveiled three new artificial intelligence (AI) services for its cloud computing platform: Rekognition for image recognition; Polly for text-to-speech and Lex for speech recognition. AWS CEO Andy Jassy said that the company plans to add more AI services in 2017.

All of the leading cloud computing vendors have been racing to adding AI capabilities to their services. “Jeff Bezos is convinced about the power of A.I. to help Amazon.com and AWS grow,” said industry analyst Jeff Kagan. “I think we can expect to see more of these kinds of announcements from them in the near future. These are very important first steps for both AWS and for enterprise customers.”
