LimeWire Goes Bye Bye
The LimeWire file-sharing open source software launched just a few months after Napster on May 14, 2000. Yesterday, New York District Court Judge Kimba Wood ordered that the company shutdown permanently.
Thomas Mennecke at Slyck News wrote the company's obituary.
Mennecke details the companies history, the beginning, the middle and the end.
If you visit the LimeWire Web site, it says, "This is an official notice that LimeWire is under a court-ordered injunction to stop distributing and supporting its file-sharing software. Downloading or sharing copyrighted content without authorization is illegal."
