Possibly the most interesting new developments in open source is in the area film and video.

NetworkWorld’s Alan Shimel wrote about two projects this week: MoviePals.org and Stray Cinema.

Stray Cinema releases raw footage that anyone can use, edit and create their own films with – it’s all open source.

MoviePals.org is sort of similar but it’s much more ambitious. They want writers, actors, camera persons and editors to sign their manifesto and collaborate to create open source films with profit-sharing.

Give Shimel’s story a read and check out MoviePals.org and Stray Cinema, it’s pretty interesting stuff.
