Linux Mint Debian Edition Released Today
A new Linux distribution based on Debian hit the Internet today. It's called Linux Mint Debian Edition. It's a rolling distribution that uses Debian Testing as its base.
"Today is very important for Linux Mint," the announcement said. "It's one day to remember in the history of our project as we're about to maintain a new distribution, a rolling one, which promises to be faster, more responsive and on which we're less reliant on upstream components."
The purpose of LMDE is to look identical to the main edition and to provide the same functionality while using Debian instead of Ubuntu as a base.
