Wine Development Release 1.3.0 Is Now Available
Last month, Wine developers released the latest stable release of the Windows "emulator" version 1.2, now the first 1.3.0 development version is available for download.
Wine is an open source Windows API implementation released under the LGPL license. It allows users on Linux and Unix operating systems to run Windows applications using its own open source replacements for Windows DLLs.
Odd numbered versions of Wine are for development and even numbered ones are stable releases. Version 1.3 will lead to the next stable version of 1.4. However, since 1.2 dropped just last month, it will likely be a couple of years before 1.4 is available.
In the 1.3 release, there is the beginnings of a user interface for the built-in Internet Explorer, support for cross-process OLE drag and drop, a new built-in wscript.exe program and open/save dialogs remember the last used directory.
