Google said that they plan to release Chrome OS to the open source community later this year.
In a blog post yesterday, Google’s VP Product Management Sundar Pichai responded to questions about the future of Chrome.
“Google Chrome OS is an open source project and will be available to use at no cost,” Pichai said.
The companies Google is working with to design and build devices to run Chrome include Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and Toshiba.
